Hi all.
I just noticed that you guys help id'ing so I thought I'd see if you could tell me about this one. It was in a bush in Majorca. Not very big.

Difficult to say from that view, but it looks like some sort of crab spider (Thomisidae family) to me. Would help a bit if you had a picture where the eyes were visible :)

Looks more like some sort of orb weaver - looks very similar to the common orb or garden spiders native to the UK.
Interesting colouring etc. I wonder if this sp. is using camouflage in the form of a bird dropping ? There are other spp. which use this aren't there ?

Thanks folks. I found a few more shots on the laptop. I still can't place him. I'm using the Collins field guide and I can't see anything in Europe with ridges on its back like that, but then, I'm rubbish at ID'ing :)
I take better photos now since reading the Collins book. I try to get a front shot for the eye locations, the underside where poss and of course a top shot of the abdomen.
