Hi im looking for a key to identifying Phoneutria sp.Thereason being as i have a spider here that looks very much like a wandering spider and was found in Plymouth amongst bananas from ecuador.No pics yet but i will try carefully later.I need to ID this spider because the potential danger of it.thanks,feel free to pm me for questions etc that might help.thanks alot

If it's in bananas from Ecuador, and it's a Phoneutria spp. then it's likely to be either Phoneutria boliviensis or Phoneutria fera.
Stick a pic up if you can.

A pic is needed for a fast ID, there are alot of genuses that look very similar.

Saw the spider in the BTS show (if it was the same one as in this thread). It was most definitely a Phoneutria sp.

Did you get a good look at the palps? did they have thick black setae comming off of them?

yep i think it was the 1 u saw then Phil as it was confirmed as Phoneutria sp.Who had it when you saw it?
