Looks like that could be the winning answer. We have those around here or something close to it. From what the maps show, its range is generally coastal, but World wide.
Has it made an orb web yet? It may need a bit more space to show its true nature ...let alone eat and be a happy spider.

There is soooooooo no fear of me disturbing her. Cant see her anywhere. We are about 5 miles from the beach so costal would be correct :)

I decline to comment! I thought she had left them but she hasnt.
Last week I found 2 huge female spiders very dark brown/black. Bout 2" Leg span and quite stocky what are they? Biggest 'house' spiders I have seen.

2" they could still be T. domestica, I have seen T. gigantea females reach 4" in legspan.

Nuctenea umbratica,a particularly long legged spider with a flatish body that doesnt do a lot! A lazy spider that tends to act dead when picked up.

The spider with the egg sac is Neriene montana, a relative of the money spiders in the Linyphiidae, although subfamily Linyphiinae. They're quite common. The two large brown/black spiders are Amaurobius ferox. They're common too, I've got some good pics if you would like to see!
