Cool. He looks a little cold or shocked. He found the right house to shelter in I think.

I love British Spiders, I just wish we had a few large species to photograph. I have a spider enclosure in my garden, sort of a netted cage (more to keep birds out rather than spiders in. The spiders come and go as they please but more often than not they just set up home.

The enclosure is full of bamboo canes in clumps tied together and loads of different types of grasses and ferns and a bit of bramble: great for the orb weavers. The floor is a mixture of soil, bark, black film pots and rocks. Makes idea ground for Lycosa and Tegenaria sp's. Makes for great viewing on a warm evening.

Oh, I couldn't have one in there, don't mind anywhere else though. That would be a good idea if we get the house we saw yesterday, hope so cause it MAY mean 2, yes 2 spider rooms and a massive front garden, like 70ft and about 50ft at the back, should know later *crosses fingers*.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEK, Ya done it again Mary!
When I clicked on this thread I expected to see a traditional 'orb weaver' them big foreign ones, not a bl**dy GARDEN spider. I had to scroll down with my eyes closed, just cant look at em, my blood runs cold.:unhappy: :(

Awe.....crap. I hate that. We lost a purchase last year on a house as our own sale fell through....however, we re-sold in 3 months and we went back and amazingly the house was still up for sale. and here we are happy as can be...still hurts though when you lose the chance to get one.
