Hi,

I got a package from Germany today. This time it was no T's but True spiders. Okey it was one wannebe tarantula... :O_o:

Here is the list:

0.0.3 Macrothele calpeiana
0.1.0 Phoenutria nigriventer
0.0.8 Sicarius terrosus

Macrothele calpeiana

These are small slings. They are about 3-4mm bodylength and very skittish! They never sit still! lol

Phoenutria nigriventer

I was buying another specimen of this spider first but it died before he could send it away so I got the other spiders as a compensation. This is a spider that I have always wanted to keep and have been looking for for some time.
For you who dont know about this species its probably the most dangerous spider of all. Depends on how you look at it. P. fera probably have stronger venom but it dont occur in very populated areas as nigriventer does (= nigriventer bites more people).
Anyway they say these should be one of the fastest spiders to but so far she havent showed any speed. But I wont poke her to find out either! She is not fully grown yet. She could be adult but I think she is more sub-adult. The legspan is around 8cm and the body is about 2.5cm long.

These pics arent the best because I took them through the plastic as I didnt want to risk anything as it is the first time I was dealing with this genus and species. So the colors of this spider isnt right. On the last pic you can see its colors quite good though. Will see if I maybe can get better pics of her later when she have setteled in more.

Sicarius terrosus

Don't know if I am more exited about the Phoenutria or these? S. terrosus is a desert living crabspider that is very venomous and fast. They burrow themself down into the sand to hide. But just as deep as they are covered with sand. Then they can attack prey when it comes near without beeing seen. Like a traap-door spider eccept for the trapdoor.
They don't get very big, about 5-6cm legspan as adults. So the ones I got may be large slings of juveniles. Not sure really. They are about 1cm legspan atm.

Thanks mate!

To be honest I belive the animals with the strongest venom is the most cowardly animals of them all.
The nigriventer havent moved one mm from where she is at the pics. Same when I kept Leiurus quinquestriatus and Androctonus australis (scorpions) they where also quite scared of everything! LOL

Be careful with that phoneutria, some of them strikes in the air just for opening the lid
